Registration for Summer Camp 2020 -- CANCELLED

UPDATE 5/11/20: Due to safety and planning concerns, Prairielands Council is cancelling all summer programs at Camp Drake this Summer of 2020. The following is from their e-blast.

The Prairielands Council Board and Staff continually puts the health and well-being of our Scouts and Leaders first. Based on the aforementioned statement, CDC Guidelines, the State of Illinois Recovery Plan, and other regulations and requirements related to COVID-19, it is just not feasible for us to hold our traditional summer camping programs this year. Therefore, we are making the difficult decision to cancel our traditional Summer programs at Camp Robert Drake for 2020.

====================================================================

If you were at the Blue & Gold Banquet today, then you enjoyed the magician, our scouts getting their awards and recognition, the food, the cake, and all things celebrating scouting in Pack 9. What you maybe didn't enjoy was me shouting about Summer Camp. Sorry, but the excitement for the weather warming up and getting our scouts to the outdoors is hard to contain.

Registration is now open and all the details are on the Summer Camp 2020 page here at HCPack9.org.

Boneyard Creek Community Day -- POSTPONED

UPDATE: The Champaign Park District has cancelled the Boneyard Creek Community Day event for April 18.

Official release: We have been closely following the Center for Disease Control guidelines on the Coronavirus (COVID-19). To continue to be proactive toward our community’s health, we have decided to postpone this years Boneyard Creek Community Day. We will continue to update everyone if we decide to reschedule for the fall or focus on smaller cleanups throughout the year.

===============================================

Saturday, April 18, 2020 is one of Pack 9's signature service days: the Boneyard Creek Community Day. Check-in with event staff is at 9:00am at Kaufman Lake. We're typically done by 11:00am. Come when you can; leave when you need to. Please signup on this Pack 9 page so that we can provide organizers a rough headcount.

What to Wear?
Dress to work outside. No open-toed shoes. Scouts should wear either the purple Pack 9 t-shirt or the orange Boneyard shirt from a previous year if you have one. Otherwise, event staff typically have more orange Boneyard shirts on-site for volunteers.

What about Rain?
For more information and potential weather related delays/cancellation please see the Facebook event page the morning of the clean-up. If the event is canceled, it will be posted on the Facebook page.

The rain date is scheduled for Saturday, May 2, 2020.

Post Party
Immediately after the cleanup, a free lunch for volunteers will be served at Scott Park, where there will be music and interactive learning displays. It usually starts between 11:00 and 11:30.
