Day Camp

Day Camp is ideal for younger Scouts who are hungry for their first campout at Camp Drake and older scouts just want a one-day adventure. It includes a full Saturday of activities with optional overnight camping on the (Friday) night prior. Day Camp is open to all Scouts.  The activities include archery, bb gun shooting, slingshots, swimming, games, crafts, fishing, camping, and hiking, and each camp typically also features unique activities only at that camp. A parent/guardian is required to attend Day Camp with their Scout.
  • Day Camp #1: Saturday, June 1 at Camp Drake; optional overnight camping Friday, May 31
  • Day Camp #2: Saturday, July 13 at Wimple Park; optional overnight campingFriday, July 12
Dates are set. See below for the archived info from last year while we wait for this year's updates.

Day Camp schedule
  • Friday, 6:00pm -- Check-in for overnight campers, then evening activities
  • Saturday, 8:00am -- Check-in for those that did not campout Friday
  • Saturday, 9:00am-4:00pm -- Activities
The cost for each Day Camp is $60 per Scout, which includes all activities and meals. The cost is $10 per adult for all meals. To help with costs, Pack 9 is providing double the camp credit earned by Scouts who sold popcorn.

Pack 9 will ensure that all Scouts who want to go to Summer Camp will go to Summer Camp, regardless of personal finances.

Volunteers who wish to serve on the full-time Day Camp staff will have the Day Camp registration fee waived for one scout.

Adventure Camp

Adventure Camp is built primarily for for older Cub Scouts who ready for multiple days in a row out at camp. This is a three-day, three-night summer camp designed for real outdoor adventure. There's an amazing variety of activities and events, and it's a great opportunity for the Scouts to complete many of their adventure pins and loops as well as to enjoy the freedom to choose the usual favorites of swimming, hiking, crafts, shooting sports, and other outdoor adventures.

Of the two sessions, Adventure Camp #1 is the signature camp for Pack 9. We'd like to get as many Pack 9 scouts to attend so that they can all enjoy the half-week together.

Parents are always welcome as well. Scouts currently in Bear or Webelos may be able to attend with or without a guardian present, if we have enough other leaders present. Scouts currently in Lion, Tiger, and Wolf dens (grades K-2) may be able to attend Adventure Camp if they are accompanied by a parent/guardian. If you want your scout to go to Summer Camp but your attendance is an issue, let us know. Consult your Den Leader and the Camp Coordinator.
  • Adventure Camp #1: Sunday, June 30 - Wednesday, July 3 :: Pack 9 primary outing
  • Adventure Camp #2: Sunday, July 14 - Wednesday, July 17 :: backup option
Adventure Camp schedule

The cost is $150 per Scout. The cost for each adult is $75. To help with costs, Pack 9 is providing double the camp credit earned by Scouts who sold popcorn.

Pack 9 will ensure that all Scouts who want to go to Summer Camp will go to Summer Camp, regardless of personal finances.

Registration

To register your Scout for summer camp, please complete the following steps by Wednesday, May 15.
  1. Complete the Pack 9 Summer Camp Registration form
  2. Health and Consent forms: Parts A and B only; no physical Part C needed
    • These are required of all Scouts and adults attending.
  3. Turn in payment made out to "Pack 9" or contact Pack 9 for assistance.
Registration is not secured until all three steps have been completed.

As noted at the top of this page, Pack 9 wants to make sure any scout who wants to attend Summer Camp will get that opportunity. The online registration includes a question that helps us to make this a reality for every scout, regardless of financial circumstances.

Camp Credit

After completing Step 1 of the registration, we'll contact you with the amount due. Those Scouts who sold popcorn in the past have earned camp credit toward the camp fees, and your payment will be reduced accordingly.

Camperships

These are essentially scholarships for Scouts who want to go to summer camp. Those needing to request financial assistance are encouraged to due so through the Pack or the Council.

** Pack 9 will ensure that all Scouts who want to go to Summer Camp will go to Summer Camp, regardless of personal finances. Please feel comfortable about approaching your Den Leader or Cubmaster to learn more.

Scouts from the Prairielands Council are eligible for partial camperships. Scouts that need financial assistance in order to attend camp must have their leader file an application with the Prairielands Council Scout Executive stating the amount of assistance required. All inquiries will be kept confidential. Contact the Pack 9 Cubmaster if you need any assistance with the Council option.

Deadlines

Complete the above Registration steps with Pack 9 by Wednesday, May 15 so that we can submit everything on time. The Council will charge a late fee for registrations past deadline, so get your reservation in early to avoid that fee. Click here to complete the Pack 9 Summer Camp Registration form.

FAQ

Q: My child has never been camping or only gone once or twice. Which camp is better for them?
A: We recommend Day Camp for younger scouts in K-2. Older scouts, grade 3-4, typically have the maturity to enjoy camping multiple nights at Adventure Camp.

Q: Does my Scout have to go to camp alone, or may I go with them?
A: We highly encourage parents to be a part of the Scouting experience. For Adventure Camp in particular, Scouts finishing grade K-2 must have a parent or authorized guardian with them for all of camp. Scouts finishing grade 3-4 have the option of attending without a parent after coordination with their Den Leader and Camp Coordinator.

Q: Does my Scout need to bring additional money?
A: Aside from the registration fee, there are no other required expenses. There is a Trading Post at Camp Drake that sells candy, drinks, ice cream treats, and souvenirs. For those attending Adventure Camp, having $15-20 would allow a Scout to buy a treat or two each day.

Q: Can we come visit our Scout at Adventure Camp if they were permitted to go without a parent?
A: Absolutely! It would be best to coordinate the visit ahead of time so we can let you know where your Scout will be when you arrive. In particular, Camp Drake encourages families to come out on the third/final night to join their scout for dinner and then the Campfire Program. Family is always welcome at Camp Drake. Please check-in at the First Aid station when you arrive.
